SUMMARYHuawei has finally got a break in price sensitive Indian smartphone market with Honor 6 smartphone.
It seems Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer, Huawei, has finally got a break in the price sensitive Indian smartphone market with its flagship Honor 6 smartphone. Huawei had launched its Honor 6 smartphone on Flipkart on October 6 and stated that the handset has generated faster sales than any of its predecessors in the country. Also, the company has been trying to make the Indian consumers realise that it is the third largest smartphone brand in the world and it should be honoured for that. But then should we honour it? We check out.

Oppo Find 7: Australian Review

If you want a great phone, you don’t necessarily have to restrict yourself to Apple or Samsung, or any of the other marques that are popular in Australia at the moment. Chinese phone makers like Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus are making waves around the world for high-end devices without commensurate price tags. Oppo’s Find 7 is a 5.5-inch smartphone with top-end specs, tied to a slightly more affordable price than the big brands.

Oppo N3's 'Non-Bendable' stainless steel body.(Oppo)
Often touted in media circles as the 'next Xiaomi', Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is all geared up to challenge various top smartphone brands with its N3 smartphone that incorporates a reportedly 'non-bendable' stainless-steel outer body.
Now, the Oppo N3 is all set to be launched officially on 29 October along with another smartphone, according to an India Today report that quotes a teaser for Oppo's 29 October event.
The above report adds meat to Oppo's earlier tweet that stated that the N3 'non-bendable'smartphone would launch on 29 October.
So, those waiting for the official launch of Oppo's smartphones on 29 October can anticipate the official launch of another smartphone, as evident by the company's teaser.
Oppo N3 is expected to be initially made available for prospective buyers in the Asian country of Singapore, before being made available in other countries.

Most of the details regarding the Meizu MX4 Pro

Most of the details regarding the Meizu MX4 Pro have been leaked recently as the device underwent a benchmark test on GFX. Thanks to the test, we now have all the specifications for the upcoming smartphone and we also know how it looks like thanks to some previously leaked images. All we need now is information related to the price, but we believe that we’ll only learn those details next month when the Meizu MX4 is expected to make its first official appearance. In any case, let’s take a look at the revealed specs for now and worry about the price later.
According to the GFX benchmark, The Meizu MX4 Pro will come equipped with a 5.5-inch touchscreen with 2560 x 1563 resolution. This is already a substantial upgrade over the standard Meizu MX4, which only features a 5.36-inch panel with 1152 x 1920 resolution. Hardware-wise, we’re looking at a Samsung Exynos 5 chipset complete with octa-core processor clocked at 2 GHz, ARM Mali-T628 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. Again, an improvement over the previous model, especially in the RAM department. The benchmarked Meizu MX4 Pro sports 16 GB of internal storage memory, but we assume it will also have at least one more variant with increased storage. However, there is no information regarding this at the moment so take it as mere speculation for now.

OPPO Lite version of the N3

SoyaCincau originally leaked a smartphone from Oppo which could just be our mystery device (see image below). While there’s nothing concrete available about this phone, we know that it will also have a rotating camera design with dual LED flash.
There’s a high possibility that the phone will also fall in the ‘N’ series and it could either go official as the N2 for the mid-range or as a Lite version of the N3. This are of course, purely based on speculation. The N3 handset is said to come in two versions, one with lithium-aluminum design and the other flaunting a stainless steel body.

The Spice Stellar 518 packs a huge battery for Rs. 7,799

Spice has already cranked out a couple of budget handsets in their Stellar lineup with the Spice 509 and Spice Stellar 524. Ready for another one? The Spice Stellar 518 is the latest smartphone from the manufacturer, and it has a feature that might just get your attention.
The Spice Stellar 518 is a bit of a downgrade from the recently released Spice Stellar 524. That’s unfortunate, as it has something that handset doesn’t have… a huge 4000mAh battery. It’s large, and double the size of the 2,000mAh juice box found in the Stellar 524.
The processor, memory and storage all remain the same on the Spice Stellar 518, so it will have a 1.3GHz quad-core chip, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable (up to 32GB) internal storage. The 5-inch 854 x 480 display is a bit of a downgrade as is the 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-facing sensor. Connectivity options remain the same on both devices with WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, and GPS. It’s a dual-SIM handset, and will come with Android 4.4 installed.
The Spice Stellar 518 price is Rs. 7,799 in India so it’s cheaper than the 524, but not nearly as cheap as similar handsets with a bit more punch. It’s still worth a look if you are in the market for a smartphone with a huge battery, and you can pick one up today from Saholic.

Samsung Galaxy A7 specs leak shows 64-bit SoC and FHD display

Rumors of a Samsung A Series lineup have been circulating for months. We’ve already gotten a good look at the A5, and know the specs behind the A3 as well. Now it’s time for the last device in the A series lineup to take it’s turn in the spotlight as the Samsung Galaxy A7 specs have been leaked.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 specs come from a pretty reputable source this time around – Samsung. The device has shown up in a UA profile listing on site, and along with the listing comes a few specs we’ve been quite curious about.
The user agent profile lists the A7 as the SM-A700FD, and it will have an FHD display and a 64-bit processor. Dual-SIM compatibility is also confirmed, but that particular feature will probably stay in the Eastern part of the globe where dual-SIM variants are common. Nothing new in regards to the rest of the innards, but it’s safe to say you shouldn’t expect anything nutty like 4GB of RAM or 128GB of storage. It is a mid-range lineup after all…
While you may not be overly excited for the Samsung A Series, it will definitely be an upgrade over the company’s previous mid-range devices. That said, you’ll still have plenty of bargain handsets to choose from as Sammy isn’t phasing any lines out in the near future.
What do you think about the A series lineup and the partial Samsung Galaxy A7 specs?

WSJ: 5.9-inch Nexus 6 still pegged for an October release

While we approach mid-October with each passing day, the majority of gadget enthusiasts continue to focus their attention on the fabled Nexus 6 and its eventual arrival. The aforementioned smartphone continues to be a primary topic of discussion in the mobile world, and as a prime example of that we have a new report from the Wall Street Journal which reconfirms the smartphone’s screen size as well as its availability.
Although the new report from WSJ doesn’t reveal any new details regarding the Nexus 6’s specifications, the publication cited three independent sources that seem to reconfirm some of the smartphone’s characteristics. To wrap things up, the Journal reports that the Nexus 6 codename Shamu will undeniably be Google’s ticket for the phablet market segment. In 2011, phablets accounted for only 1% of the total smartphones shipped globally, but nowadays these large-screen devices account for up to 24% of the market. Numerous smartphone manufacturers have jumped on the phablet bandwagon this year, and even Apple has released a 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
That being said, it only makes sense for Google to partake in the phablet game, and sources of WSJ are certain that the upcoming Nexus 6 will sport a 5.9-inch display, just as the previous rumors have suggested. The screen resolution should be set at 2560 x 1440, which results in a pixel density of 498 ppi.
Based on data that surfaced prior to this new report, the Motorola Nexus 6 should be powered by a Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor, and it should draw its energy from a generous 3,200 mAh. Evidently, since we’re looking at a brand new Nexus device, the so-called “Shamu” will be used as a launch pad for Google’s upcoming mobile OS: Android 5.0 L.
Some of the Wall Street Journal’s sources also say that a larger Nexus smartphone would technically allow the company to have more activity in the Asian market where large-screen devices caught on really well, but then again customers in the western hemisphere might view a 5.9-inch Nexus 6 as a niche device.
As far as the smartphone’s pricing strategy goes, WSJ doesn’t say much aside from the fact that Google intends to release a worthy iPhone 6 Plus competitor at a lower price. This is pretty much to be expected from a Nexus smartphone, but we’ll see how it all pans out soon. The Nexus 6 should be unveiled on the 15th or 16th day of October, so all we need to do is sit tight and wait for Google to spill the beans. Any thoughts?

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 gets officially presented

Aside from the new Yoga tablet line-up presented yesterday in London, Lenovo also took the wraps off a couple of new convertibles, namely the Intel Core M-powered Yoga 3 Pro as well as the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 which we’ll now focus on. Interestingly enough though, unlike its 12.5-inch predecessor the new Yoga 14 sports a larger 14-inch display, as given away by the moniker.
While the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 arrives with a larger IPS screen, the resolution remains unchanged at 1920 by 1080. The Yoga 14 draws its processing power from a Haswell-class Intel Core i5 processor which is paired up with an Intel HD graphics chip in the base model, or an optional Nvidia GeForce 840M GPU should you choose to pay a bit extra. Either way, the convertible sports 8 GB of DDR3L memory, and a 1 TB HDD complemented by a 16 GB solid state drive.

The 2014 Moto X, also known as The new Moto X

The 2014 Moto X, also known as The new Moto X (but Motorola only refers to the smartphone as the Moto X), was initially available only in the United States, through two of the nation’s largest carriers: AT&T and Verizon. A wider roll-out has been promised, and now, those who live in the UK, and want to have their own Moto X, can order the smartphone.
The Moto X is available straight from Motorola, GSM unlocked, meaning that you’ll have to either purchase a carrier SIM card, or use an existing one. Two storage options are available: the 16GB variant goes for £419.99, while the larger capacity, 32GB version, will set you back £459.99.
For the money you get a phone featuring a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution (1920×1080), protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocking at 2.5GHz, helped by the Adreno 330 graphic processor. Also included are 2GB of RAM, the two aforementioned storage options, a 13 megapixel main camera on the back, 2 megapixel front-facing shooter, plus all the usual suspects, including WiFi and NFC.
However, if you want to customize your future Moto X, make it your own, you can do so using Motorola’s own Moto Maker. There are two front colors available: black and white, though selecting the latter options will delay your phone’s shipping. Back colors include shades in five major categories, while you can also choose from ten accent colors. Engraving is also a possibility, should you want to further personalize your device with a message.
That being said, let us know whether you are going to purchase the 2014 Moto X. If you don’t like in the UK, however, you’ll have to wait a little longer in order to grab the phone, but a wider roll out shouldn’t be far out.
